Hunky British Game of Thrones actor Sean Bean has won an International Emmy for his portrayal of a trans character in the BBC drama series Accused. The Emmy comes on the heels of a best actor award Bean won for the same role from the Royal Television Society last March.Bean played introverted teacher Simon, with a trans alter ego named Tracie, a role that required him to get in touch with his feminine side. As Tracie, Bean gets involved in an affair with a married man which leads to murder. Bean described the role as the most demanding he has ever played.
“I prepared by walking round in high heels in the kitchen at home and one night I went out in the full gear and arm-in-arm with my middle daughter. I wanted to find out what it felt like, whether I’d be able to pull it off and have the bottle to function in that situation. I must have been pretty good,’ Bean told the Radio Times. “No pictures turned up in the press.”
In his brief acceptance speech, Bean thanked his father, but referred to his role somewhat obliquely just before he left the stage, saying:
“I’ve still got four pairs of size ten heels lying about my house. I forgot to give them back.” ~The New Civil Rights Movement
