Can You Hear and See

It begins

A quiet night masks a spectacular event

The purest love of divinity Herself

Transcending all time

A cosmic event

Deigned to not only take on our image and likeness

But to become one of us

Thereby making us and all creation sacred

This is beyond all understanding

We who are but specks of stardust

Our lifetimes measured against eternity

This mystery is unfathomable

Coming not as a god or a king

For who could follow such an example

Rather a carpenter’s son

One we could touch

With whom other children could play

Work alongside

With whom people could eat and drink

My mind cannot grasp this totality

The Source Of All Breath

The Begetter Of Time

The Alpha And The Omega

Light Of Souls

Lover Of All

Maker Of Possibilities

Unlimited Energy

Came among us

Anointed us

Lifted us up

On that momentous day

The earth itself rejoiced

In a way that sounded like angels singing

To those whose ears and hearts were open to hear it

Stars danced in the sky

The moon bowed her head

Clouds appeared as wise people

To those with eyes and hearts to see

What was demanded in return

We become faithful to our inner selves

We respect the uniqueness of each person we encounter

We become guardians of the world with which we have been gifted

All animals on earth

All birds of the skies

All creatures of the waters

All the living coverings of the earth

Love our neighbor as ourself

Treat the poorest among us with dignity

And share with them from the talents we have been given

What to make of all of this

This is not just good news

It is not only a demonstration of Her love

It is evidence of a forever promise

That She will be with us all

As She was in the beginning

Is now

And will be until the end of time
